Will Manning finally wear a Super Bowl Ring this year? November 27, 2006

He’s arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL at the moment and probably is among the best ever. His knowledge of the game is probably unmatched by any other player currently in action. Coaches apparently approach him for advice. He is apparently also a control freak and likes to be in control of things on field. This is evident from their practice sessions where his practice sessions are extremely thorough. On Sunday night against Philadelphia Eagles, Manning became the fastest player to reach 3000 completions. The team has done extremely well in pre-season. However, postseason has been a different story. In 2004 they lost 20-3 to eventual champions New England Patriots (led by Tom Brady) in the Conference Championships. In 2005 they lost in the Divisional Playoffs to eventual champions Pittsburgh Steelers (led by Ben Roethlisberger). With that loss, it marked the first time since the NFL expanded to a 12-team playoff tournament format in 1990 that a #1 seed lost to a #6 seed. This season too they’ve been the best team during the preseason. They went 9-0 (making them the first team to go 9-0 in back-to-back years) before losing to the resurgent Dallas Cowboys. They’re currently at 10-1. So, will this be the year that the Colts finally win the Super Bowl? Or will it be another disappointing postseason for their fans?

Just like Rahman matured as a musician and Microsoft matured as a company, you have matured, as a blogger…

This is a typical CNN style reporting where you ask lot of questions without giving any answers or opinions…report remains relevant in any case…!!

Oh about Manning, no football for me this year..need to fix my TV..

Weren’t you jumping around when the Patriots won in 2003?

I know. Just ask the questions and expect readers to come up with the answers. The post was intended for ramare btw. He is a big Patriots fan too, I think. I’m glad they lost to the Colts though. 🙂 Regarding my maturity, I know. :p. I finally blogged about something other than Bollywood or Microsoft.

This year was the first time I watched NFL games, by the way. Until now it was basketball and occassionally baseball. I saw a few Colts games and a few AZ Cardinals games.

Oh no that was 2002…I was jumping because I had to pee and I was locked out in cold, everyone thought I was celebrating their victory…

I found a bathroom in 2003.

Tampa Bay won in 2003 (not the Patriots). 🙂 My mistake. Anyway, it took you one year to find a bathroom?

-Given the present form of the teams I think Pats play Colts for AFC and Bears play Cowboys/Seahawks for NFC. So, Colts may have tough road ahead to make it to Superbowl and Pats having successful experience recently at the Bowl can beat any team (IMO) if they make it to Miami. The answer to your question about Manning is “will wait and watch”.
And teams playing exceptionally well before conference games in other sports like Baseball and Basketball couldn’t win the championship. For example, this year, Twins, Tigers and Yanks in baseball, Pistons,Mavs, Spurs and Suns in basketball. If this trend continues in NFL too, then will Colts win??

-I remember Parmanu emailing me about Pats and Panthers Superbowl game in 2003 season (Pats also won in 2004).

Actually Spurs and Pistons have won in recent times and they were good in the preseason too. Anyway, I think the problem with the Colts is that their defense is not great and neither is their offensive line.
