Abhishek on Karan Johar and KANK September 29, 2006

Abhishek had some nice words to say about KANK:

“In a film industry where we are accused of not making responsible films, Karan is blamed for making a good film like KANK.”

“Karan in his previous films was known as a candy floss director. I think he has shown amazing maturity by making a film like KANK, which is thought-provoking and makes you question some very basic things.”

“Karan has brought up a very pertinent question in his film ‘KANK’ – ‘What if you find your soul mate after marriage?”‘

Maybe we should have listened to Abhishek and sent this to the Oscars instead of RDB? By the way, this is what happens when you let idiots decide on which movie is sent. Why don’t they listen to Abhishek? He’s a Bachchan for heaven’s sake!! I just don’t get it. You know what? He may or may not be the sexiest man in India but he definitely is the smartest! And shut your mouth, anyone who’s snickering (sniggering for our friends back home in India).

“What if you find your soul mate after marriage?”‘”

Ahh..such a thought provoking question, isnt it? We all know how difficult it is to get rid of our spouses these days; esp. if you have a good job, would your spouse give you a divorce?? NOO!! Abhishek can never be wrong.Karan has infact brought up a very pertinent question. 🙂

” You know what? He may or may not be the sexiest man in India but he definitely is the smartest!”

What do you mean by he is not the sexiest man??!!! My heart got ruptured and fllleewww to the nearest trash can 😦 Infact, I think that we should listen to him because he is sooo sexy. It doesnt matter whether he is smart or not!

The subject of the movie was daring indeed but probably got too much for the Indian audience to handle.First they keep on saying why do we have to make all those lame mushy stories and then when someone comes up with a daring subject, our Indian idealogy comes in the way. Most of the people couldn’t digest Rani and Shahrukh getting together in the end. They probably wanted them to live alone and suffer ever after. Also they did not expect Abhishek and Preity to chuck out Rani and Shahrukh but these things happen today. These days people aren’t all that dependent on their husbands or wives and can manage to chuck them out of they have an extra marital affair and moreover,it’s no use sustaining such a marriage.

Another problem that the movie faced was Shahrukh’s character. We’ve always imagined him as the good chocolate lover. We have seen him as a villian but this role seemed to make him look like too much of a pain in the backside.I think the character was portrayed very well, you would actually be like that if you don’t get to be successful in life and your wife earns the money. It’s all a question of self esteem. His behaviour to the child was rude because he himself was frustrated but no one cared when they showed him loving the child too.I don’t know why the movie bombed. It wasn’t all that bad.

ish, don’t get me wrong… I actually liked some of ShahRukh’s movies like DDLJ, Darr, Swades, Paheli, and some of Karan Johar’s films too… hmmm, no, actually I hated each one of them, but KANK is a disaster. Except for the underlying theme – adultery, there was absolutely nothing new in the movie. It was a remake of DDLJ and an extremely crappy one at that. Frankly, another movie that tackles this subject, Silsila, with Amitabh, Rekha and Jaya was much better and much more daring, considering that it was made 20+ years before KANK.

That said, I’d still like KANK to be sent for the Oscars. Let the jury have a good laugh at an Indian blockbuster. We don’t even get nominated when we send in our “best” movies. Why don’t we have fun and send the crappiest ones?

Lol KANK for the oscars 😀

I’m pretty happy they chose the right movie this time. They sent Paheli the last time.Dunno what they were thinking then but this time it’s Rang De Basanti which was a pretty decent movie.

I never saw Silsila sk but heard it was good.I can’t see the similarity between DDLJ and KANK though.

I watched this movie last year and really loved how camera shot all the scenes, I think it’s a great movie. SRK is the best! HE is my favorite actor!
